Workshop 2 – Designing Constructivist Performance Tasks with AI (AI-LDP)
Where pedagogy meets technology to shape the future of education
Bilingual Teacher’s Guide — Hossein Talebzadeh — October 2025
Introduction
In the IAT model, the constructivist teacher is a “learning designer.” The performance task is the peak of this design, where students shift from passive receivers of content to active constructors of meaning. This workshop introduces the concept of the Green Task and five performance task models.
Traditional vs. AI-Enhanced Tasks
| Criteria | Traditional Task | AI-Enhanced Task |
|---|---|---|
| Main Goal | Knowledge recall (memory, reproduction) | Application and construction of knowledge in new contexts |
| Role of AI | Task eliminator (students can copy answers) | Challenging partner (provides critique, data for analysis) |
| Nature of Task | Individual, abstract, disconnected from real life | Team-based, authentic, rooted in real-world problems |
The Green Task and Five Performance Models
- Scenario-Based: Role-play in a simulated context to solve real-world problems.
- Comparative Analysis: Evaluate contrasting perspectives generated by AI.
- Creation & Critique: Improve AI’s initial draft through critique and redesign.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL): Long-term team projects with tangible outcomes.
- Modeling: Create digital/physical models to explain complex processes.
